PHRYGIA, Akmoneia. Trebonianus Gallus, 251-253. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 28Emperomm, 12.31 g 6). AVT K OVIB AΦ ΓAΛΛOC OVOΛOVCIANOC Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trebonianus Gallus to right. Rev. AKMO/NEΩN Cavalryman, holding whip, on horse leaping right; below, river-god Sindros reclining left; to right, two females (deities, or personifications of nature) standing left on rocky outcropping. BMC 107-108 (same dies). SNG Leypold 1403 (same dies). SNG von Aulock 3380 (same obverse die). Very rare. Some tooling in the fields on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.


An interesting reverse type, likely showing an otherwise unknown local myth, possibly related to the founding of the city.
