Gordian II AR Denarius. Rome, AD 238. IMP M ANT GORDIANVS AFR AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right / PROVIDENTIA AVGG, Providentia standing facing, head to left, leaning on column to right and holding a wand and cornucopiae, globe at her feet. BMC 19; C. 5; RIC 1.

Tiny contact mark in right field, otherwise; Good Extremely Fine. Very Rare.

Gordian II was Roman Emperor for only one month with his father Gordian I in AD 238, the Year of the Six Emperors. Seeking to overthrow the Emperor Maximinus Thrax, he died in battle at Carthage.
