*Boeotia, Thebes, 470-440 BC, hemiobol, half Boeotian shield with Θ below, rev., amphora, 0.46g (Bérend (Mildenberg Festschrift), pl. 1, 9, this piece; SNG Fitzwilliam 2922), very fine and an extremely rare variety Ex BCD collection, Triton IX, 10 January 2006, lot 368 where the existence of the theta on the obverse is noted for the first time. On no other coins of Thebes does the ethnic appear on the obverse.
