Edward VI. 1547-1553. AR shilling. 5.85 gm. 33 mm. Third period, fine silver issue (the first actual shilling). London mint. Y i.m. Struck 1551-1553. Crowned facing bust, rose to left, XII to right / Royal shield over long cross fourchée. S. 2482. N.1937. Near Very Fine; old mark on face; minor edge irregularities on a particularly broad flan; light multihued toning. A better style portrait, typical of the "Y" i.m. issues.
