Warwickshire 63a (with similor). Æ halfpenny token. 9.12 gm. 29 mm. Front view of a building; BIRMN POOR HOUSE HALFPENNY TOKEN around; PAYABLE THERE in exergue / Bees flying around a beehouse; FOR THE USE OF THE PARISH. I Alston Fecit 1796 in exergue. Edge: Scalloped. Good Extremely Fine; very scarce and rarely seen with the coating.Similor is a golden color alloy of copper and zinc. D&H note that this was done on some of these pieces and the flan edges were left wavy. Samuel (Bazaar Notes) rates the piece "Very Scarce" since only 6 lbs worth were struck (275 pieces according to Waters). Samuel does not say how many were coated with similor saying only "some." This is the first I have seen in 25 years of effort on tokens. (AD)
