FRANCE. 20 Franc, 1813-W. Lille Mint. Napoleon, as Emperor (1804-14). NGC MS-64.
Fr-512; KM-695.10; Gad-1025. We auctioned-off a similar piece at last year's ANA that hammered for $7,000. Though a point lower in grade, the coin offered here is arguably just as nice, and has half the mintage of last year's offering (dated 1810). That said, this example features booming luster and near flawless surfaces with minor adjustment marks seen along the obverse rim between 10 and 1 o'clock. Struck near the end of Napoleon's rule, this gold coin fell from the presses oblivious to the crushing defeat the Russians handed Bonaparte the previous year. NGC MS-64.
Estimate: $2000.00- $3000.00
