George VI Specimen 25 Cents 1945 SP64 PCGS, Royal Canadian mint, KM45. Mostly graphite-gray in the centers with deep blue and gold iridescent color at the edges. Much more scarce than conventional wisdom suggests, with only 4 examples showing in the PCGS census data, this being the first we have offered. Missing from the Pittman Collection, the example offered in the Norweb sale was cataloged with the following interesting annotation, "compare to the Kissel-Victoria: 4167 (Bowers & Ruddy - 1989), Specimen-63, which was the center of a spirited bidding contest, as those present will remember." Obviously, several collectors came to a similar conclusion about the underrated rarity of this coin in that sale, as we have now. Since little has changed since that time, we expect similar spirited bidding for this piece. From The Eric Beckman Collection of Canadian Coins
