George V gold Specimen 10 Dollars 1912 SP68 PCGS, Ottawa mint, KM27. An exceptional masterpiece in gold, not only for the flawless state in which it resides, but also for the dramatic patina that lends beauty to both sides. While we have offered several examples of this date in specimen presentation over the years, this piece easily stands out as the finest we have seen. After close inspection with a glass, no post-strike handling is observed, and the only imperfection keeping it from a finer grade is a tiny strike-through just to the left of six o'clock on the obverse rim. While other nice examples of this date exist, the toning however fully elevates this miraculous survivor to unparallel heights. Vivid hues of apricot-gold and orange tone, mixed with rose and sky-blue coloration paint the surfaces, and when paired with the glowing luster that the strike produces, the appearance immediately enamors the eye; even for the collector uninterested in Canadian coins, if the opportunity presents itself, we strongly suggest you take a look in person. Unequivocally a "special" coin, and as result, fully deserving of placement in a most-advanced canadian cabinet. From The Eric Beckman Collection of Canadian Coins
