Anhalt-Dessau. Friedrich I gold Proof 10 Mark 1896-A PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC, Berlin mint, KM25, Jaeger-180. Mintage: 200. Two-year type. Expertly produced and carefully preserved, with endless reflectivity in the mirrored fields and dynamic mint frost atop of the bust of Friedrich I, the reverse eagle, as well as the peripheral lettering. Pristine on the reverse, a couple of minuscule obverse ticks, most notably in front of Friedrich's nose, account for the grade, but hairlines remain entirely absent from the surfaces. A considerable rarity in proof format, this is the first time we have offered this date, with a search of archived auction records showing only four sales (all in Europe) in the past decade. Further adding to the allure, we note only two coins (the present included) in the combined NGC and PCGS census data for the date. From The Kaiser Collection of German Gold Coins
