Bavaria. Ludwig III gold Proof 20 Mark 1914-D PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC, Munich mint, KM1009, Jaeger-202. Never officially released as a type, and today surviving in tiny numbers, with nearly all specimens that show up on the market being of business strike quality, with less than a half-dozen confirmed auction appearances in proof over the past decade. Starkly cameoed as the grade suggests, the present coin also boasts watery mirrors with tiny flyspeck marks, mostly in the obverse fields, defining the grade. Only the second example of this type that we have offered, and the first we have had the pleasure to showcase is this heightened proof format.
