Prussia. Wilhelm I gold Proof 10 Mark 1873-A PR65 NGC, Berlin mint, KM502, Jaeger-242. An uncommon proof issue, lightly toned on both sides, with fields that maintain their full reflective qualities and raised elements that hold contrasting frost, creating a wonderful cameo effect over both sides. Close inspection reveals several tiny grade-limiting grazes, found mostly atop Wilhelm's raised portrait, but none demand significant attention of the eye, and all are commensurate with the grade's qualifications. A search of archived auction records reveals very few finer examples, making this lovely Gem all-the-more desirable. From The Kaiser Collection of German Gold Coins
