Prussia. Wilhelm I gold Proof 20 Mark 1871-A PR63 Ultra Cameo NGC, Berlin mint, KM501, Jaeger-243. An extremely rare proof date, and possibly one of as few as two extant, with several consulted specialists confirming the rarity of the date and archived auction records helping to corroborate that assertion. Pleasingly preserved, this coin isn't without its light forms of handling, mainly in the form of gentle hairlines in the fields and light disturbances in the mint frost, but the overall eye-appeal remains strong, largely the result of the skilled production techniques that provided bold contrast between the flat fields and raised design. Altogether, one of the more important coins to be offered in the Kaiser Collection, and resultantly, a coin that will almost certainly end up in a cabinet of exceptional refinement. From The Kaiser Collection of German Gold Coins
