Prussia. Wilhelm I gold Proof 20 Mark 1888-A PR66+ Cameo NGC, Berlin mint, KM505, Jaeger-246. A delightful example of the final-year-of-reign issue, with mostly tone-free surfaces that highlight outstanding gleam in the fields and delicate, satiny mint bloom over the design. For the purpose of future pedigree identification, high-powered magnification shows several swirling as-struck lintmarks within Wilhelm's ear that extend into his neck; very few imperfections from improper handling are seen. The finest example of this type certified by NGC, and like so many other examples from this remarkable Kaiser Collection, among the elite group of survivors that approach "finest known" status.Ex.
