Prussia. Wilhelm II gold "Military Bust" Proof 20 Mark 1913-A PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS, Berlin mint, KM537, Jaeger-253. A delightful example of this end-of-reign "military bust" style, underrated as a type, with proof examples appearing far less frequently than the Standard Catalog of World Coins value might suggest. The present coin, therefore, must be considered a choice example of the type, showcasing pleasing frost on the central motifs and peripheral lettering as well as light bands of iridescent multicolored tone over the highly reflective fields. An as-made lintmark to the right of Wilhelm's collar and a tiny depression right behind his neck make this piece immediately identifiable for pedigree purposes, while few post-striking imperfections are identifiable, even with the aid of a glass. To date, a coin that remains unsurpassed in technical quality at PCGS.From The Kaiser Collection of German Gold Coins
