Schaumburg-Lippe. Georg gold Proof 20 Mark 1898-A PR66 Cameo NGC, Berlin mint, KM51, Jaeger-285. Mintage: 250. Two-year type. Extremely desirable as a type, but especially so in proof format, with its very limited mintage (382 for both dates combined) resulting in demand that far exceeds the number of survivors available to collectors. Premium Gems, therefore, such as the present piece, are even more coveted, and rarely become available. A close look at the surfaces confirms the outstanding quality of this coin. Lightly toned throughout, no marks enter the surfaces, with an even distribution of reflectivity in the fields. On the highpoints, undisturbed frost sits in pleasing contrast to the fields. Currently the finest graded example for the date by either NGC or PCGS, with a single example of the 1904 date besting this piece. From The Kaiser Collection of German Gold Coins
