Philip V gold Escudo 1733/2 Mo-F AU50 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM113, Cal-unl. ("doubtful"). Partially lustrous with limited high-point wear and attractive surface quality, with some inconsequential small planchet adjustment marks on the obverse. Curiously, Calico lists an unknown (to the cataloguer) 1733 Mo-MF date and comments instead "some catalogs list the escudos of 1732 with no assayer, and 1732-1733 with assayer F the existence of which we consider doubtful". A very rare date/overdate with about confirmed 5-6 pieces by the cataloguer, this being the second or third finest seen. A charming representative of this rarity, very desirable so finely preserved and currently the single highest certified example by NGC.Ex. Huntington Collection (Morton and Eden 3/2013, lot 261 for GBP6,600)From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins

Estimate: 6000-8000 USD
