Philip V gold 8 Escudos 1744 Mo-MF MS64+ NGC, Mexico City mint, KM148, Onza-442. Very choice and alluringly close to the unheard-of Gem designation for this very scarce issue. A well-struck coin, with rich old patina over fully lustrous surfaces that are remarkably devoid of handling marks. While very slight surface contact marks appear on the obverse upon closer examination, the reverse is exceptional and fully deserving of the Gem class. Details are superbly rendered and no adjustment marks are to be seen, which is quite exceptional in itself. The finest seen Philip V 8 Escudos by the cataloguer, and currently the single highest certified for the type by NGC. Extremely rare in this elite quality and a true joy to behold. One of the most desirable items in this landmark collection, we certainly expect fierce competition to acquire the privilege of owning this outstandingly preserved example. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins

Estimate: 40000-50000 USD
