Ferdinand VI gold 2 Escudos 1747 Mo-MF VF25 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM125, Cal-157. Wholesome and choice for the designation, with even wear, attractive old reddish toning and distracting contact marks. A very rare type, missing in Gerber and essentially unknown in higher preservations: this example-originally from the Norweb collection-is similar to the Caballero de las Yndias example (Aureo 4/2009, lot 369 for E5,000) and only a tad inferior to the Eliasberg coin (ANR 4/2005, lot 3119 for $13,800). One of only two examples currently certified by NGC, both in VF grade (the other obviously the ex-Eliasberg coin). A well-pedigreed and very presentable specimen of this rarity. Ex. Norweb Collection (Christie's Dallas 5/1985, lot 49)From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins

Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
