Ferdinand VI gold 2 Escudos 1749/8 Mo-MF XF45 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM126.1, cf. Cal-159 (unlisted overdate). Attractive for the designation, with partially lustrous fields and good detail remaining throughout. Minor adjustment marks on the bust and some encrustation removal in the rosette to the left of the mintmark are mentioned for accuracy's sake. Although unlisted in Calico, the overdate is not rare in itself and examples were included in both Gerber and Norweb. On the other hand, the condition of the present coin is quite remarkable, and would be most challenging to improve upon. A great type coin, very rare in this quality. Ex.
