Ferdinand VI gold 4 Escudos 1754-Mo-MF XF Details (Obverse Scratched) NGC, Mexico City mint, KM138, Cal-111. A well-detailed and partially lustrous coin, with a few rather mild pinscratches to the left of the bust on the obverse defining the grade. A rare date of this elusive type (only 765 coins were struck), with only two other offerings in the past 15 years known to the cataloguer: the Caballero de las Indias specimen (Aureo 4/2009, lot 376 hammered at E5,0000) and a specimen sold by UBS (UBS 3/2007, lot 465 hammered at CHF10,500). Struck from the same pair of dies - with a damaged "D" in "IND" - as the Vidal Quadras specimen (No. 10025), which appears to be the finest extant. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins
Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
