Charles III gold Escudo 1762 Mo-MM AU58 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM117, Cal-634. Near Mint State and attractive for the assigned grade, with only slight high-point friction, strong underlying luster and contact marks well within the confines of the designation. The very scarce first date of the type, missing in Gerber and Eliasberg. Rare and desirable in this unusually fine preservation, currently the single finest example of the date and tied for the second finest of the type certified by NGC. The cataloguer has been unable to confirm the 1762 Mo-MF variety listed in Calico as his number 635. It might well not exist. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins
