Charles IV gold 4 Escudos 1792 Mo-FM XF45 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM144, Cal-212. Rather choice for the assigned grade with lustrous fields and limited high-point wear. An attractive example of the first collectible date of this type, graced with a now doubly legendary pedigree. Note that the extremely rare 1791 date of this type has a meagre mintage of only 850 pieces. It is missing in both the Rudman and the Banco de Mexico collections and the cataloguer has only been able to trace a single specimen of it although others could well exist. Ex.
