Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1789 Mo-FM MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM157, Onza-1015. A most attractive coin, Mint State with highly lustrous surfaces and some minor abrasions in the fields preventing a higher designation. The roughness on the bust is typical for coins of this date and denomination and contrasts quite dramatically with the aforementioned glossy surfaces. Some very minor adjustment marks on the obverse are mentioned for accuracy's sake, but do not deter from this piece's great eye-appeal. Only scarce in lower grades, this transitional issue was nevertheless missing in the comprehensive Eliasberg group. In the present select quality, it is however very rare and most desirable. Currently the single finest certified specimen of the type by NGC and the finest specimen of the date seen by the cataloguer; a coin that should attract serious bidding interest. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins
