Charles IV gold 8 Escudos 1804/3 Mo-TH MS62 NGC, Mexico City mint, KM159, Onza-1039. A choice coin for the assigned grade, Brilliant Mint State and handsomely toned, with a rather sharp strike and a few scattered marks on the highly lustrous surfaces preventing a higher designation. The overdate is clearly observed and rated as scarcer in the Onza reference work. Curiously, the cataloguer notes additional specimens in the Gerber (Spink America 12/1995, lot 511) and Eliasberg (ANR 4/2005, lot 3204) groups, though neither was identified as this overdate variety. Conditionally rare and quite desirable in this charming preservation. From The Rudman Collection of Mexican Coins
