Elizabeth II Certified 1/2 Penny and Penny Proof Set 1955, Perth mint, KM-PS17 (49 & 56 for type). Struck at the Perth Mint with a mintage of only 301 sets, the result being extreme collector demand from those focusing on 20th century rarities. The 1/2 Penny (PR63 Red NGC) remains stunningly brilliant with full orange-red centers that show a touch of red tone at the edges. Past collector handling mixes with swirling die polish lines over both sides, but the eye-appeal remains rather pleasant for the issue. On the Penny (PR64 Red NGC), the color is fully even, again with natural die polish lines, but less noticeable handling. Together, just about the most pleasing set of this issue that we have seen. A rare offering indeed!
