Belgium
Leopold I 5 Francs 1832 Position B MS64 NGC, KM3.1. Position B. Incused lettered edge. An absolutely outstanding representative of the first crown struck by an independent Belgium. This sublime example presents lightly-reflective surfaces that contain an alluring mixture of champagne and amber color within the legends, framing the portrait of Leopold in a warm glow. The wholly pleasing design elements are resoundingly crisp, save for a bit of softness on the reverse wreath motif, and the faint presence of adjustment marks through the King's hair are barely noticeable to the unaided eye. This 5 Franc type has long been considered a significant piece of modern Belgian coinage, and this selection from 1832 is the first date in the series, boasting a relatively low mintage of just 37,000 pieces (which includes positions A and B). For a coin that is seldom encountered, and when it is it's typically seen in heavily circulated grades, this near-Gem offering is sure to elicit much excitement.
