Leopold I gold Proof 100 Francs 1853 PR62 Cameo NGC, Brussels mint, KM-XM3.1, Fr-409. Mintage: 482. A widely popular low-mintage type that was struck for, and distributed at, the wedding of the Dutch of Dutchess of Brabant. The present piece, a pleasing example of the type, exhibits highly reflective fields and frosted devices that result in pleasing contrast. Less hairlined than the grade often suggests, a couple arrent marks near the conjoined busts on the reverse surely prevented a finer designation.
