Joao V gold 6400 Reis 1748-R MS62 NGC, Rio de Janeiro mint, KM149, Russo-223. A sublime specimen featuring the well-defined portrait of Joao V with fully-lustrous surfaces that glisten with radiant, golden color. Light handling in the way of micro-abrasions and slight obverse discoloration to the left of the King and upon his cheek are well within the confines of the assigned grade; however, they most likely preclude a finer designation. Even so, this is a conditionally rare offering, currently the top-graded certified example of this date, and decidedly worthy of such a distinction.
