Victoria 10 Cents 1889 MS62 PCGS, London mint, KM3. Another key date from the Victoria 10 Cent series, this visually alluring selection presents slate-gray surfaces delicately highlighted by subtle lavender and sapphire hues that reside within the outer peripheries. Micro-surface abrasions in the way of light ticks and wisps are noted in the assigned grade but ultimately preclude a finer designation. Even so, this is a highly-coveted Mint-State specimen. While the SCWC reports a mintage of 600,000 pieces for this year, the exact number is actually unknown. Several theories come into play regarding its scarcity, including the possibility that only one die-pairing was used or that the mintage figure includes coins that were also dated 1888. Further research confirms that there are currently only handfuls of certified Mint State examples of this date by either NGC or PCGS. Regardless of the exact mintage, past auction records have shown that the availability of the 1889 in a true Uncirculated designation is still limited in the marketplace, which only adds to the appeal of this current offering. From The Kosowan Black Gold CollectionFrom The Kosowan Black Gold Collection
