Dutch Colony - Willem I Proof Reaal (6 Stuivers) 1821 PR64 NGC, Utrecht mint, KM26.1. Variety with 4 acorns. A gorgeous Proof specimen featuring a crontwig crossed with a caduceus and denomination surrounded by a laurel and oak branch. Displaying fully-mirrored fields and lightly-frosted design elements, this small yet intriguing piece of reform coinage glistens from every angle. The reverse expresses moments of darker tone and faint mottling is noticeable with the aid of magnification. According to the SCWC, in 1827 roughly 90% of this variety's original mintage was melted down and since there isn't a record for this issue in Proof, it is conceivable that this particular example may be unique.John Quincy Adams was Secretary of State when this coin was minted, and thus it is quite probable that this piece was especially produced for him.Ex.
