Napoleon III gold Proof Essai 10 Florins - 25 Francs 1867 PR61 NGC, Paris mint, KM-E30, Maz-1746. By Barre. A lightly handled example of this very rare gold pattern, struck from the same obverse die as the previous two lots, with the reverse reflecting a dual 10 Florins (British) and 25 Francs (French) denomination instead of the 5 Dollars (American) and 25 Francs (French) on the pervious pair. Struck in an effort to harmonize coinages and ease trade between major partners, but unfortunately this idea never progressed beyond a concept.
Estimate: 7000-8000 USD
