German States
Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Karl II gold 10 Taler 1829-CVC MS62 NGC, KM1115, Fr-742, Jaeger-318. A beautiful and nearly prooflike large-size gold piece from the German State of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Though the mintage is not known for this issue, it would appear to be a fairly scarce type; we note that no example has sold publicly, either in North America or Europe, since October, 2013. That coin, sold by Künker and graded as "Vorzüglich/VorzüglichStempelglanz" (or "Extremely Fine/Extremely Fine-Mint State"), sold for a hammer price of 4,400 Euros (or about $5,947). From the grade an photograph, it would appear to be more or less the equal of this specimen. However, with the added benefit of the NGC grading, we know for sure that this is a true Mint State example without any serious flaws, and so competition may be fairly intense from our bidders from around the world. An overall attractive and minimally hairlined example. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $1350 in VF, $2400 in EF, $4050 in UNC.

Estimate: 5000-6000 USD
