Nurnberg. Free City gold 4 Ducat ND (1703) MS62 NGC, KM262, Fr-1879. A wonderful and artistic type, showing the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) standing over the world and holding a vexillum inscribed PAX ("Peace"). Though not particularly rare as far as multiple ducats go, this is till the first example we have ever handled and one of just two graded by NGC (the other is also graded MS62). There is a very, very faint waviness to the flan, which one would expect for a coin so large and thin struck from a metal as soft as gold. A few scattered hairlines but no marks that distract the eye. Pleasing overall.
Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
