Solms-Laubach. Christian August Taler 1768-WWE MS66+ Prooflike NGC, KM32, Dav-2784 (Incorrect on NGC holder). Simply stunning. It is extremely rare to find an 18th century taler that is a genuinely prooflike issue, and so it is quite exciting to be presenting this piece for sale. This is a coin that was very possibly some sort of presentation strike; the fields are highly reflective and lustrous, and it is clearly one of the first coins struck from freshly prepared dies, giving it its prooflike appearance. It is hard to imagine finding a finer example of this type, and it is quite possible that this specimen does indeed lack an equal. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $1200 in VF, $2000 in EF, $3600 in UNC.
