Victoria gold Proof 2 Pounds 1887 PR64 Ultra Cameo NGC, Royal mint, KM768, S-3865, WR-290. A scarce issue of just 797 produced for the 1887 proof set. Though Heritage is known for handling many high quality British coins, we have only sold eight other examples of this type in the past decade, averaging fewer than one per year. When one considers the near Gem grade of this specimen, there is certain to be quite a bit of interest in this lot. It should be noted that there is a small hair or thread trapped beneath the plastic just behind the bust of Victoria, so that should not be mistaken for a scratch. There are minimal hairlines for the grade with highly reflective surfaces giving this coin superb eye appeal.
