British India. East India Company - Victoria gold Mohur 1841.(-C) MS62 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM462.1. Prid-22, S&W-3.7. Type A/1. W.W. Plain 4. A lovely example featuring the young head of Victoria surrounded by a divided legend and the emblematic lion in front of a sprawling palm tree. This particular selection boasts design elements that are noticeably crisp for the issue and fields that are mostly free of any remarkable distractions, save for a number of small marks upon the bust which are noted in the grade and ultimately prevent a finer designation. For a type that is increasingly difficult to acquire in higher levels of Mint State, this nearly-Choice specimen makes for an ideal representative.
