British India. Victoria gold Proof Restrike Mohur 1862-(C) PR64 NGC, Calcutta mint, KM480 var., S&W-4.8. A sublime Proof Restrike that features the mature bust of Victoria with two flowers located in the bottom panel of her jabot. Almost immediately the glossy surfaces come to life, enshrouding the ornately-styled design elements in a warm, golden glow. Light haze residing in the obverse fields most likely keeps this piece from a Gem designation; however, the combination of technical quality and visual allure is nearly unbeatable on this specimen. Premium in all regards, and highly-desirable as such.
