Naples. Neapolitan Republic 12 Carlini Anno 7 (1799) MS61 NGC, KM232, Dav-1410. Struck during the Parthenopean Republic this attractive selection features a standing allegorical figure holding a pole topped with a liberty cap. Wholly pleasing surfaces exhibit a base of silvery-gray with brighter accents residing within the legends and protected areas. The devices express Mint-State definition throughout, and other than some light handling and a minor obverse planchet flaw, this piece is outstanding. An excellent representative of this fleeting type, rarely encountered in such desirable quality, and highly-coveted as such. Lasting roughly six months, the Parthenopean Republic was established in the Kingdom of Naples during the French Revolutionary Wars after advancing French forces deposed King Ferdinand VI.
