Showa gold 20 Yen Year 7 (1932) MS65 NGC, Osaka mint, KM52, Fr-55, JDNA 01-6. An extremely rare final-year-of-type issue, and the highest Japanese gold denomination of the period, with survivors of this date being virtually unknown until the release in the Ministry of Finance hoard between 2005 and 2007. This example, quite possibly the finest of those released, is fully struck and exceptionally vibrant, with a hint of apricot-orange patina around the sunburst and more noticeable saturations of color within the wreath that holds the value and denomination. Only insignificant grazes are observed in the open fields, and while most of the survivors qualify for the Uncirculated grade, most have picked up grade-limiting marks, making Gems such as the present a further rarity. To date, the only MS65 to appear in the NGC census, with none grading finer.Ex. Ministry of Finance Hoard
