Honore V 5 Francs 1837-M MS64+ NGC, Toulouse mint, KM96, D-219. One-year type. A most-attractive example of this elusive crown, with significant prooflike gleam in the fields and thick frost, particularly on the bust of Honore, that produces a wonderful cameo-like effect. Vibrant flares of coppery tone on both sides add to the appearance, and the strike, boldly detailed in the centers, falls short of completion around portions of the far outer edges. The finest graded by NGC, and given its remarkable near-Gem state of preservation, a coin that will undoubtedly be sought by the enthusiast of elite world crowns.
