Thorn. August II gold Ducat 1702 AU55 NGC, KM55, Fr-67, HCz-2626, Gum-2073, Kopicki-8374 (R6). Lustrous and placed on a far above-average flan, with a sharp portrait of the king and only minor doubling of the surrounding legends. Bright mint luster also remains, and when combined with the pleasing orange-gold patina, certainly places this among the finest known for this rare and coveted city issue. The only date for the type, and as such, of extreme importance for the advanced collector of early Polish coinage. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $9500 in VF, $15000 in EF.
Estimate: 40000-50000 USD
