Alexander I 10 Zlotych 1824-IB MS62 NGC, KM-C101.2, Bit-823, Dav-248. Struck from a mintage of just 513. Hardly ever encountered in mint state condition; indeed, the Standard Catalog of World Coins doesn't even have a value listed for uncirculated examples. There have been a few high grade examples sold in Europe for big prices in recent years, though it is hard to compare those to the present specimen as they were not graded by a Third-Party Grading service. So perhaps the most useful data point, however outdated may be, is the one other example of this date that Heritage has sold in its history. That was an NGC XF45 example sold back in June, 2006 for a very strong $4,250 hammer. Not only has the market become much stronger in the interim decade, but more importantly the present specimen is far ahead of the previous sales record in terms of condition. There are some scattered hairlines and marks commensurate with the grade but it is overall a very pleasing piece with no singular problems worth mentioning. Certainly worthy of a strong bid from the condition-conscious collector of world coins looking to fill a hole in his or her collection.
