Nicholas II Rouble 1901 ФЗ MS66+ NGC, St. Petersburg Mint, Bitkin-53, KM-Y59.3. Obv. Bust of Nicholas II facing left. Rev. Crowned double-headed Imperial eagle with date and value. A stunning example of this conditionally rare issue. The surfaces are full lustrous, and the strike bold. The obverse exhibits bright amber patina, while the reverse shows an appealing combination of marine-blue and lavender toning. This is the single finest example certified by either NGC, or PCGS. The previous finest example we have sold was an MS65 in our 2013 September Long Beach sale for the hammer price of $10,760.
