Republic Shilling 1892 MS65 NGC, KM5. Lovely, original surfaces with dappled toning and essentially no surface abrasions. We have never sold a circulation strike 1892 South African shilling in such a high grade before; the closest example was a PCGS MS64+ example sold in September, 2014 for just under $4,000. However, as is so often the case with South African coins, a slight increase in grade can make a huge difference in terms of value. Therefore, we find it somewhat difficult to estimate this coin, and so we leave it to the market to determine its true value.
