Pomerania. Swedish Occupation - Karl XI gold 2 Ducats 1661 MS61 NGC, KM236.2, Fr-2111var., Ahlstrom-49. An choice specimen of this broad bare head type, the strike having been perfectly placed on the flan, with eye-catching prooflike gleam remaining within the protected areas. Further, several coppery blushes confirm absolute originality, while scattered handling, as one might except from a coin of the period, blends well into the surfaces, and remains fully unoffensive. A very rare issue from period after the Thirty Years' War when Pomerania was annexed by Sweden, only to be later parceled out of its control, piece by piece, until it was finally absorbed by Prussia in 1815. The region of Pomerania now lies in modern day Poland.
