Confederation Specimen 5 Francs 1928-B SP64 PCGS, Bern mint, KM38. The final year and the undisputed key to this ephemeral series, featuring the muscular portrait of fabled Swiss hero William Tell and the emblematic cross of Switzerland. This highly-popular, large silver Crown displays silky, silvery-gray surfaces with darker color that drips from the devices, as well as a surprising amount of honeydew, golden-yellow, and electric-blue luster that glows upon rotation. The flashy fields are remarkably clear of any noteworthy marks and closer examination reveals that this selection is incredibly well-preserved, choice for the grade even, perhaps with the dark streak of patination on William's nose accounting for the near-Gem classification. At present time, the SCWC does not report any pricing figures for a Specimen designation; however, the circulation issue is listed for $22,000 in MS63. Further research confirms that only one other Specimen example of this date has been available in the last few years, and it was a PCGS SP65 that sold in our 2013 Long Beach auction for just over $22,000. With that in mind, this current offering should absolutely excite the collector of rare Swiss Confederation material who has long been searching to add such a jewel to his repertoire.

Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
