BANKNOTES, 紙鈔, JAPAN, 日本, Japan 日本: Detailed Brush and Pen designs on Rice Paper for a proposed paper currency, probably for Japanese Private Scrips, c. late 19th Century, the vignettes and designs including various imagery such as Chinese dragons, deities, animals and symbolic Chinese figures, several pages with pencil annotations noting banknote denominations and other comments. Generally in good condition with the ink still vibrant and clear, an attractive group, highly unusual and very rare.
