CHINA. Chinese References of Ancient Numismatics, Reprints of 1918 (1) & 1990 (2).
A. B. Coole: Encyclopedia of Chinese Coins, Vol. 1 - 350 & cf.352. 3 pieces in lot. Contains one copy (split into two folios) of A Resume of Ancient and Present Day Coins by Ni Mo and Yu Ts'un, the 2nd Edition originally published in 1879, this is a reprint of that edition produced in 1990. The reference is a twenty volume set, with each cardboard and navy hued cloth folio each housing ten paperback volumes which are bound with thread. Coole's encyclopedia description states: "This work was 30 years in preparation ... it shows painstaking, careful study". Certainly a glowing review, he later states that some Chinese critics have named this work as the second best resource for ancient Chinese coins. Very minimal wear present to the outer folio jackets, without any major tears or damage.

Also contains one copy (within one folio) of A Catalog of Old and Recent Coins by Feng Yun-p'eng, Yen-hai and his brother Feng Yun-yuan, published in 1893, this is a reprint produced in 1918. This work is just the numismatic material from a much larger work. A two volume set, housed in one cardboard and navy hued cloth folio, each of the two volumes is a paperback bound with thread. Given that this reference book is nearly one hundred years old, the wear and damage present is certainly understandable. This reference unfortunately fell victim to bookworm burrowing, though the damage is not extensive.

VERY FINE.

Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
