CHINA. Ministry of Agriculture, Industry, & Commerce 1st, 2nd & 3rd Class Award Medals, ND (ca. 1907-1911).
L&M-985, 986 & 987; K-pl. 194#1, 2 & 3. 3 pieces in set. VERY RARE. Silver. In November of 1906, the Qina government reorganized and created a new combined department of Agriculture, Industry, and Commercial affairs. Thus, these medals were most likely issued starting in 1907. It is believed that Eduard Kann was the only person who had the complete collection of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd class medals in silver. Two side view dragons with flaming pearl between surrounded by clouds, waves below. Class designation below pearl. Reverse shows Manchu script in legend to left, Chinese in right. Two Chinese characters in center at top and bottom. Two Manchu characters at left and right in center. The finest certified examples for each of their respective classes. We recently sold a bronze example of the second class medal for $18,000. in our August 2013 Hong Kong Auction (lot #51468). Pleasing old toning graces each of these examples.
