CHINA. Order of the Resplendent Banner Second Class, ND (Instituted 1935).
Barac-428, 429; Werlich-235,236; Vernon-49-50. Cased set of Breast Star, Badge and Sash, and ribbon bar, plus a miniature of the sash badge and ribbon. The Breast Star is an 83.2 mm gilt eight pointed faceted plaque upon which is mounted an eight pointed, gold rimmed white enamel star. The central medallion is blue with a yellow banner and white clouds. The reverse bears a single hinged tunic pin with a mechanical latch. There are two screw head rivets, two lines of inscription, and the number 409 stamped above the latch. The Badge is similar to the Star, but 37mm and bifacial. Its sash is the standard Second Class issue - white watered silk with red bands at the edges, 70 mm wide and about 150 cm long. An additional enigmatic item in this lot is a 41 mm black enameled pin-backed disc with a gold central design mostly obscured by a polished steel bar. We are not certain if it is related to the Order of the Resplendent Banner, but it was found in the ribbon compartment of the case. The case itself is the original maroon leather and golden velour compartmented display case with chrysanthemum crest, as issued with this class or Order. The interior of the case shows some staining and spotting, yet is still quite attractive. CHOICE ALMOST UNCIRCULATED.

Estimate: $1500.00- $2000.00
